January 08, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 10:54 am IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

A man who hacked another person to death after an argument near the Chembur market under the Aryancode police station limits on Tuesday evening was arrested on Wednesday.

The police said Binu, 36, of Mottalumoodu, had used a cleaver from a nearby meat shop to hack Sashi, 50, of Chembur after an argument between the two ended in fisticuffs. Sashi, the police said, had purchased a house and plot from Binu about 18 months back.

However, the two were not on good terms. Binu wanted to retrieve a few things, including weaving equipment, which he had left in the house. Sashi had reportedly refused to part with the items, leading to Tuesday’s argument. Binu, after hacking Sashi, had threatened to kill those who tried to overpower him. He then escaped on a motorbike.
