The City police will deploy more traffic police personnel in the Kazhakuttam-Karode NH 66 bypass to regulate traffic.

The decision has been taken in view of the dismantling of the existing medians and roundabouts for the four-laning of the stretch.

City Police Commissioner G. Sparjan Kumar accompanied by the Project Director visited the bypass to assess the situation.

The move follows the intervention of Minister for Public Works G. Sudhakaran following reports of accidents and traffic snarls on the stretch.

The Project Director informed the Minister that new signals would be installed once the four-laning work was completed.

The Minister has also asked the National Highways Authorities of India (NHAI) Project Director to immediately reconstruct the side wall of Kuzhivila Upper Primary School that had collapsed following a burst in a Kerala Water Authority pipeline.

The NHAI has informed him that steps were on to construct a new protection wall.
