The Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KITE) will conduct a massive school audit in the State from Monday to ascertain the use of information and communications technology (ICT) equipment and facilities distributed to schools as part of the High-Tech School project.

The audit will be conducted in the 4,752 high schools/higher secondary schools/vocational higher secondary schools in the State where the High-Tech School project, aimed at uplifting the schools to centres of excellence, has been implemented. KITE executive director K. Anvar Sadath said the audit would cover the use of ICT equipment and facilities provided to schools, Samagra resource portal in high-tech classrooms, and broadband Internet connection in schools; support and maintenance mechanisms, including complaint management systems of ICT equipment; and Sampoorna-Spark updation.

Questionnaire

The process, which will use a specific questionnaire for headmasters/principals of schools, teachers, and students, will be conducted in two phases. The first phase, comprising general data collection, will be conducted from October 22 to 30. The second phase that focusses on qualitative assessment will be conducted in January.

Master trainers of KITE will visit all schools as part of the audit. Details on use of high-tech equipment will be collected from all teachers and five select students from each division in schools where the programme has been implemented. The facility will come to over 80,000 teachers and 2 lakh students in 40,083 high-tech classrooms.

KITE has provided laptop, multimedia projector, screen, USB speaker, projector-mounting kit, HDMI cable and faceplate, and high-speed internet connectivity in each of the high-tech classrooms.

Samagra

Classrooms have been provided with access to the Samagra portal, the digital content repository for classroom learning. Teachers have also been trained in the use of ICT tools and Samagra. The deployment of the remaining ICT components will be completed soon.
