Promotion of Indo-Japan friendly ties

Edgar Morris, former chairman, Alumni Society of AOTS (Association for Oversea Technical Cooperation and Sustainable Partnerships), Kerala, has been conferred The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays, by the Government of Japan.

A press note issued by the Consulate-General of Japan in Chennai on Thursday said Mr. Morris was selected for the honour in recognition of his contribution to promoting friendly relations and mutual understanding between Japan and India.

Mr. Morris was the founder of the Alumni Society of AOTS, Kerala, and had been its president for more than 35 years.

Nippon Kerala Centre

The Nippon Kerala Centre was established in Kochi under his chairmanship. He also initiated friendly ties between Kochi, Kerala and Kochi- shi, Japan and was instrumental in establishing the Indo-Japan Chamber of Commerce- Kerala.
