A 27-year-old warder at the district jail here was found hanging in his under-construction house in the Marayamuttam police station limits on Thursday night.

The Marayamutttam police said Joshin Das of Anathoor, Marayamuttam, was found in a room of the house just before midnight. He had been living in a rented accommodation nearby and had gone out around 6 p.m. When he failed to return, the worried family members tried to call him on the phone but to no avail. A search was launched. His motorbike was spotted near the new house, and the body was found inside.

The inquest was conducted by the Revenue Divisional Officer, and the body handed over to the family after the post-mortem examination.
