Actor Madhu will celebrate his 85th birthday on Sunday, but the celebrations at his house in the city began a day early with actor Mohanlal’s visit on Saturday. Mohanlal presented him with a birthday cake.
The two are set to act together in Priyadarshan’s ‘Kunjalimarakkar,’ the shooting of which will begin in Hyderabad in November. Mohanlal reminded Madhu that they had acted in a film together during his 80th birthday celebrations too, when they acted in ‘Geethanjali.’
“Our friendship began with the film ‘Padayottam.’ From the time I got acquainted with him, he has showered me with love. I have acted as his son in several films,” said Mr. Mohanlal.
In a film career spanning over five decades, he has made a mark not just in acting but has also shone as a director and producer.
But a film career was nowhere in his scheme of things when he started working as a Hindi lecturer at a college in Nagercoil.
But soon, he joined the National School of Drama, which became his stepping stone to Malayalam cinema where he made his debut in the 1963 film ‘Ninamaninja Kalpadukal’ directed by N.N. Pisharody.
