Bharatiya Janata Party legislator O. Rajagopal has said that the party stood a good chance at the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in the State.
The arrival of senior leader Kummanam Rajasekharan, who resigned as the Governor of Mizoram, has created panic among the rival parties, he added.
He was addressing a mass gathering here on Sunday while inaugurating the valedictory rally of the Parivarthana Yatra in the Thiruvananthapuram region, which was led by BJP State general secretary K. Surendran from Kodungoor in Kottayam.
‘Tacit understanding’
Mr. Rajagopal alleged that both the Congress and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) had a tacit understanding ahead of the polls.
The differences among the parties blurred in other parts of the country, especially in West Bengal, he said.
Presiding over the function, BJP district president S. Suresh accused the parliamentarians of the Congress and the CPI(M) of portraying the Central government’s efforts as their personal achievements.
He also claimed that the Centre had played a major role in the development of the State capital by making allocations towards projects including the development of the NH-66 bypass, Nemom railway terminal, and Vizhinjam seaport project.
