The second leg of the ongoing hearing on the petition seeking the disqualification of rebel Kerala Congress (M) leader P.C. George was held here on Monday, with KPCC vice president and Congress legislator V.D. Satheesan asserting that the former had worked against the candidate fielded by the United Democratic Front (UDF).
Mr. George, on the other hand, utilised the occasion to turn the scales against Finance Minister K.M. Mani accusing his party senior of harbouring a grudge against him and preventing him from being inducted into a good position in the UDF dispensation.
Interestingly, Mr. Satheeshan had been called as a witness by Mr. George’s counsel, and ended up giving a deposition against Mr. George. Mr. Satheeshan’s contention was that he was the election manager for the Aruvikkara election and he had first-hand knowledge about Mr. George’s conduct. Mr. George, it appeared, utilised the opportunity to hit out at Mr. Mani. He said relations with Mr. Mani soured up when he brought up certain issues related to the solar panel scam accused Saritha Nair.
