Fisheries sector to get Rs.21 crore

Administrative sanction has been given for various projects to the tune of Rs.21.13 crore in the Fisheries sector, Fisheries Minister K. Babu has said.

These include the preliminary studies for the Maruthadi fish-landing centre in Kollam (Rs.52 lakh), insurance scheme for fish workers (Rs.3.70 crore), insurance scheme for allied workers (Rs.1. 25 crore), bankable subsidy for fish workers and fishing gear (Rs.50 lakh each), motorisation of traditional fishing boats (Rs.40 lakh), seed capital for NMDC/NMCFDC projects and interest-free loan scheme for women fish workers (Rs.150 lakh each), marine fisheries resources management and setting up of artificial reefs (Rs.45 lakh), automatic fishing vessel monitoring system (Rs.80 lakh), renovation of government fish farm at Poyya (Rs.115 lakh), aquaculture project at Ayiram Thengu fish farm (Rs.158 lakh), aqua park (Rs.one crore), and information/ communication training programmes (Rs.95 lakh), Mr. Babu said.
