Curtain came down on the 15th international film festival organised by the Film Lovers Cultural Association (Filca) with the screening of award-winning M.P. Sukumaran Nair’s latest offering Jalamsam here on Thursday.
All genres
The week-long festival, which began with the documentary Images/Reflections: A journey into the images of Adoor Gopalakrishnan directed by Girish Kasaravalli, featured more than 40 films from all over the globe and across all genres.
While movies like The Pianist by Roman Polanski and In Darkness by Agnieska Holland, based on true events during the Nazi regime, were a reminder of a horrendous past, Jalamsam is a film that talks in a non-linear narrative about the changing social order in Kerala at the turn of the new millennium.
On hand at the valedictory function of the festival were Kerala State Chalachithra Academy chairman Rajeev Nath, film-maker M.P. Sukumaran Nair, critic M.F. Thomas, among others. Filca general secretary M.K.P. Nair chaired the meeting.
