A Central Intrusion Monitoring System (CIMS) that offers round-the-clock security cover to homes and businesses in Kerala is the highlight of the government’s policing initiative for the next fiscal, Governor P. Sathasivam told the Assembly on Friday. Officers say the scheme envisages remote linking of surveillance cameras, intrusion detection systems, movement sensors, and fire alarms installed on private premises to the proposed CIMS at the State Police Headquarters here.
Keltron will integrate the CIMS with the law enforcement’s GIS-based Crime Mapping System (CMS).
Other than private homes, the police expect banks, 3,000-odd ATMs, 200 government treasuries, 3,000 primary cooperative banks, currency exchange centres, jewellery and electronic showrooms to avail themselves of facility.
The government will increase the representation of women in law enforcement to 15%. It planned to upgrade the present Fort Cochin Scuba Training Centre in Ernakulam as an institute for advanced training in water rescue for personnel of emergency services. The State Industrial Security Force will be expanded, traffic enforcement modernised, and anti-corruption initiatives upped.
