Cylinder loading-unloading charges increased

February 27, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:49 am IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

A meeting chaired by District Collector Biju Prabhakar here on Thursday decided to hike the loading-unloading charges for LPG cooking gas cylinders to Rs.950 for a lorry-load.

A press note issued here said the rate would take retrospective effect from July 1, 2014.

At present, the loading-unloading workers are given Rs.830 for a load.

Earlier at a meeting chaired by the District Labour Officer, a suggestion was made to raise the charges to Rs.920.

The labourers’ unions and the lorry owners could not reach a consensus on this. The Collector’s meeting was called to overcome the impasse.

It was also decided at the meeting that a permanent solution would be worked out, at the government level, in six months.
