Corporation to hold artsand sports competitions

The event will be held from November 17 to 20

The city Corporation has invited applications from city residents who are interested in participating in the arts and sports competitions for those above the age of 35, to be organised by the local body.

The events will be held from November 17 to 20. The applications have to reach the Corporation’s education and sports standing committee before November 14.

In athletics, one person can participate in three individual events, in addition to relay.

For group events, a separate list of all the team members, including documents proving their age and address is needed.

Athletic events

The athletic events will be held for men and women in the age groups of 35- 40 , 40- 45, 45- 50, 50- 55, 55- 60, 60- 65, 65- 70 and above 75.

For those between the ages of 45 and 60, the competitions will be held in 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m and 1500 m running, 2 km walking, long jump, shot put, javelin throw, 4x100 relay and 4x400 relay.

For those above the age of 60, competitions will be in 100m, 200m, 400m and 800m running, 2 km walking, long jump, shot put, javelin throw, 4x100 relay and 4x400 relay.

For shuttle events in the age groups 35-45, 45-60 and above the age of 60, there will be separate competitions for men and women. The age of the competitors will be the age as on October 31 this year.

Art competitions

In the art competitions, one person can take part only in three individual events, other than group events.

Any medium can be chosen for the painting competition.

The Corporation will provide the chart paper. The competitors need to bring painting materials.

The local body will also provide the material for toy making competition.

The other competitions are in folk song, group song, katha prasangam, street play, violin, guitar, tabla, flute, light music, mimicry, poetry recital and sculpture making.
