Clean-up drive on beach

: As many as 163 students from schools in the city and members of the Nature Club at All Saints College here participated in a drive to clean up the Shangumugham beach on Thursday. Sub Collector S. Karthikeyan inaugurated the clean-up exercise.

In his inaugural address, Mr Karthikeyan said instead of complaining about lack of cleanliness, the people should volunteer to clean their locality.

Speakers also highlighted the contribution of Kudumbasree members in keeping the city clean.

The campaign was jointly organised by H20, a Chennai based NGO, and Children’s Movement for Civic Awareness, an organisation based in Bengaluru.
