Chief Minister to lay foundation stone for warehouse

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will lay the foundation stone for the proposed Central Warehouse at Pamala Estate near Kunnamthanam here on Saturday. Union Minister of State for Food and Civil Supplies K.V. Thomas will preside over a public meeting to be held in connection with the stone-laying ceremony.

According to an official statement issued by the Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC), the proposed warehouse in 2500 sq mt will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs.3 crore. The State government had allotted 3.5 acres of land to CWC at Pamala Estate in 2010 following a request for the same by the then MLA, Joseph M. Puthusserry.

The proposed warehouse is the 13th of its kind in the whole State. T.M. Jacob, Food and Civil Supplies Minister; P.J. Kurien, Anto Antony, MPs; Mathew T. Thomas, MLA; B.B. Patnaik, CWC managing director; and G.N. Nair, director, will also address the function.
