The State Cabinet has decided to hike the monthly stipend amounts for postgraduate students and super-speciality students in government medical colleges. The hike will be applicable to dental PG students also. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said in his post-Cabinet news briefing on Wednesday that the State would incur an additional financial burden of Rs.25 crore under this head. The following are the stipend amounts with old rates in brackets:
First year students: Rs.43,000 (Rs.32,000), second year PG Rs.44,000 (Rs.33,000) Third Year PG Rs.45,000 (Rs. 34,000). Super-speciality students: First year Rs.47,000 (Rs.32,000), second year Rs.48,000 (Rs.33,000), third year Rs.49,000 (Rs.34,000).
