Bid to sabotage probe: VS

The government “move” to relieve Vigilance Additional Director General of Police Jacob Thomas of the responsibility of probing the bar bribery case will sabotage the investigation, Leader of the Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan has said.

In a statement here on Friday, Mr. Achuthanandan said Mr. Thomas was an honest officer who braved the pressure and threat of the government and Finance Minister K.M. Mani. He had taken the right stance during the quick verification of the case. He had been “relieved” while the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) was getting ready to file the charge sheet.

The UDF leadership had conceded to the demand of the Kerala Congress(M), he alleged.
