A book authored by two former scientists of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has been selected by the Paris-based International Academy of Astronautics (IAA) for the prestigious Engineering Sciences Book award for 2014.
The book ‘A History of Rocketry in ISRO’ authored by P.V. Manoranjan Rao and P. Radhakrishnan, both from Thiruvananthapuram, was released by former President of India A.P.J. Abdul Kalam in 2012, a press release said.
The authors have been asked to receive the award during the IAA’s Academy Day function in Toronto, Canada, in September or in March in Paris, France, during another IAA function there.
The book, dotted with anecdotes, charts the course of India’s space programme from the initial days when India made small and simple rockets, known as ‘sounding rockets,’ and then progressed to develop launch vehicles that are becoming increasingly more powerful and capable.
