The Thampanoor police has arrested an autorickshaw driver on charges of abducting and attempting to molest a woman. The accused has been identified as Arun, living on rent at a house near the Estate Railway Cross in Pappanamcode. According to the police, the woman had hailed Arun’s autorickshaw on Saturday night. Instead of taking her to the location she asked for, he took the vehicle to an isolated spot and tried to molest her.

The woman managed to escape from the spot and registered a complaint at the police station. The accused was soon traced. The police said he was not attached to any autorickshaw stand in the city.
