The Assembly has been adjourned till June 28 in the face of Opposition protest on Monday.
Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, who moved a resolution to reschedule the 14th session, said the business advisory committee had recommended that the House need not be in session from June 9 to 28 as scheduled earlier.
The Assembly would resume on June 29 and continue with the session until July 21 when it would take up for discussion and voting demands for grants on the budget for the current financial year.
Appropriation Bill
The Appropriation Bill would be taken up on July 23. Discussion and voting on supplementary demands for grants would be on July 28. The Appropriation Bill on the supplementary demands for grants would be taken up for discussion and voting for an hour on July 29.
Four days, July 22, 27, 29 and 30, had been earmarked for government business and July 10 and 24 for private members’ business.
On passing the resolution, Leader of the Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan said the Opposition was not for adjourning the session.
The government was trying to evade discussions on various issues ahead of the Aruvikkara by-election, he said.
It had managed to pass the resolution of the strength of its majority, Mr. Achuthanandan said.
