: Minister for Public Works G. Sudhakaran has said that measures would be taken to protect the properties that were held by the department.

In a statement, Mr. Sudhakaran said the department had received complaints regarding attempts by individuals to encroach upon the properties using fake documents. He said the alleged attempts by a native of Tamil Nadu to encroach upon the Courtallam Palace in Tirunelveli, a plot of 60 acres and other structures, owned by the Kerala PWD, were being viewed with utmost seriousness.

A delegation led by the Kollam District Collector had visited the spot and taken stock of the situation. The Minister has sought a report from the Chief Engineer (Buildings) regarding the possession of the properties.
