Collector orders pruning of trees

June 16, 2016 12:00 am | Updated October 18, 2016 02:49 pm IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

District Collector Biju Prabhakar has ordered the removal of tree branches or trees that remained within the premises of government institutions or land owned by private individuals and were found to be in a precarious condition.

Mr. Prabhakar directed the civic bodies concerned to issue notices to individuals on whose properties such trees existed. In cases where the landowner failed to act, the respective local body must undertake the activity and charge the former for the work done. The special permission of the Collector must be obtained before cutting down trees. He has warned that actions prescribed under the Disaster Management Act will be initiated against officials who fail to comply with the directions. — Staff Reporter
