Transport Minister V.S. Sivakumar flagged-off 14 new ‘Sabarimala Special' buses of the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation here on Wednesday.

KSRTC would run special services to Sabarimala in three phases. In the first phase — November 17 to December 10 — 35 new services would be operated. Mr. Sivakumar said 195 buses would be operated to Sabarimala this season.

In 2010-11, the KSRTC had operated 170 buses, including 18 new buses, to Sabarimala.

All necessary steps had been taken to optimise the operations of the special services, he said.

Compared to the previous season more than 100 additional services would be run this year, he added.
