Work on improving infrastructure in the Yeyyadi Industrial Estate and Yeyyadi locality commenced on Tuesday with MLA D. Vedavyasa Kamath getting ₹ 5.65 crore released from the government for the works.
Speaking at a function for the launch of the work, former corporation councillor Roopa D. Bangera said that the demand for basic infrastructure has been there for the last six decades from residents as well as industrialists. With the MLA taking interest in the works, the government has released the grants to fulfil the demand, she said and added that drainage and road works would be taken up under the grants.
Joint Director of Industries and Commerce Department Gokuldas Nayak said that the industrial estate was lacking basic amenities. With the government funds, the works would help industrialists a great extent, he said. Contractor Uday Kumar Shetty spoke.
