Saffronisation infuses culture in a person: Vajubhai Rudabhai Vala

Governor Vajubhai Rudabhai Vala said on Wednesday that saffronisation is nothing but way of Indian life and it infused culture in a person.

Addressing a gathering at the inaugural ceremony of golden jubilee of Vivekananda Degree College and Vivekananda Pre-University College at Puttur, the Governor said: “We proudly speak about saffronisation, will continue to do so, and achieve saffronisation as well.”

The Governor said that ancient scriptures have shown a way of life. If it was sought to be replicated now what was wrong in doing so, he asked.

He said that education in convents can introduce students to letters and science and technology but it cannot infuse “samskara” in them. He said that ancient Indian texts taught about infusing “samskara” in individuals.

Enlightened texts

He said that ancient texts have enlightened about doing one’s duty without expecting anything in return.

A nation’s character was made because of such beliefs. He said that Indians respected all religions and their beliefs.

“We don’t make fun of any religion and will not take it lightly if someone does it to us,” he said.

The Governor asked women to be brave and stand up to aggressors.

S.R. Rangamurthy, president of the Vidyavardhaka Sangha, which manages the colleges, said the sangha has come a long way from the time it was set up as Puttur Education Society nearly a 100 years ago to its present day avatar as the sangha.
