Nagaland Governor P.B. Acharya on Wednesday said institutions, including universities imparting education, should become part of the national growth.

Speaking on challenges in higher education and the National Education Policy at the Srinivasa University at Mukka near here, Mr. Acharya said besides empowering students with knowledge and skill, universities should make them enterprising leaders.

Stating that education should have a definite goal, Mr. Acharya noted that education that enhances reputation of the country should be capable of uplifting the life of rural people.

He said the the north-eastern States are now becoming empowered as hundreds of students from there are getting education in institutes in Dakshina Kannada.

University Chancellor A. Raghavendra Rao, pro-Chancellor A. Srinivasa Rao, Vice Chancellor P.S. Aithal, Registrar Anil Kumar and others were present.
