The bandh called over the Mahadayi water sharing dispute evoked a poor response in Udupi city on Thursday.

The city and service buses belonging to the private sector ran as usual. The Udupi-Mangaluru-Kundapur bus service, considered the lifeline of the district, functioned as usual. The Udupi-Manipal private city bus service also functioned normally.

However, the operation of government inter-district and inter-State buses and government city and service buses had been stopped, said Uday Shetty, Depot Manager, Karantaka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), Udupi. This affected commuters dependent on these buses.

Schools open
