The Go Andolana Samiti will organise a “Go Satyagraha” demanding an end to slaughtering of cows in the country, here on February 26. Addressing presspersons here on Wednesday, Raghavendra Acharya, convener of the samiti, said that the satyagraha would be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

The district units of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, the Bajrang Dal, the Hindu Jagran Vedike and the Go-Parivar would be supporting this satyagraha.

The main demands of the Samiti besides banning cow slaughter, was that those caught slaughtering a cow should be jailed for seven years and asked to pay a fine of ₹ 1 lakh.

Those indulging in violence against cows during their transportation should be jailed for five years and asked to pay a fine of ₹ 50,000. The vehicle used for transporting the cows should be confiscated.

Monthly pension should be given for taking care of cows that have stopped yielding milk. “Go-mala” land available should be reserved for growing green grass for feeding the cows.
