Urban local bodies of Moobidri, Mulky and Sullia with a total of 61 wards went to the polls on Wednesday by recording 69.45% polling which was peaceful.
Mulky Town Panchayat with 18 wards recorded the highest 75.68% polling. There was 67.70% polling in Moodbidri City Municipal Council which has 23 wards. Sullia Town Panchayat with 20 wards recorded 66.30% polling.
The turnout of women was highest in all 61 wards with 70.84% voting. The voting by men was at 67.96 %.
If the BJP was in power in Sullia and Mulky Town Panchayats, the Moodbidri City Municipal Council had been bagged by the Congress in the last elections. Of the 23 wards in Moodbidri, the Congress had bagged 15 seats, the BJP four, the JD(S) three, and the CPI(M) one seat.
Of the 18 in Sullia in the last election, the BJP had bagged 13 seats leaving five seats to the Congress. After the delimitation two more wards have been added in Sullia this year.
Mulky Town Panchayat had 17 wards during the last election. In that the BJP had won 11, leaving six seats to the Congress. After the delimitation one more ward was added in Mulky making the total 18 wards.
