As many as 23 persons, including four policemen, were injured in a stone-throwing incident that occurred in Karaya village near Uppinangady on Friday night when groups belonging to two different communities were involved in a fight, even as participants of the Virat Hindu Hrudaya Sangam in Puttur were returning home.

Also, 25 persons were arrested on the charge of carrying stones in a vehicle. Prohibitory orders have been imposed in the village.

According to the police, the groups claimed that stones were thrown at a few persons returning from the Vishwa Hindu Parishat’s public function in Puttur and that the groups returning from the event retaliated.
