Shivanand Kapashi, CEO of Zilla Panchayat, said on Tuesday that banks in the district should showcase success stories under the Standup India scheme.

He was chairing the quarterly meeting of District Consultative Committee for Banking in Udupi district at the Zilla Panchayat Hall, here.

Under the Standup India scheme, an entrepreneur from the Scheduled Castes or the Scheduled Tribes or a woman entrepreneur can avail loan facility from the banks ranging from ₹10 lakh to ₹1 crore for their enterprises.

Mr. Kapashi said that showcasing of such success stories would encourage those with enterprising spirit to come up and avail the loan facilities under the Standup India scheme from the banks.

Rudresh D.C., Lead District Manager, pointed out that the banks should enter the advances provided by them under the Standup India scheme in the portal meant for it. So far, many of them were not doing it.

When Mr. Rudresh pointed out that the banks were grappling with the problem of linking Aadhaar numbers with regard to digitalization of bank transactions in rural areas, Mr. Kapashi said that the banks should explore the possibility of linking them to the Aadhaar number of the Gram Panchayats concerned.

Mr. Kapashi also directed the representatives of various banks at the meeting to clear all the pending applications with them for government schemes for 2017-18.

Presenting the progress under the special focused scheme, Mr. Rudresh said that under the Kisan Credit Card Scheme, ₹101 crore had been disbursed during the first quarter of 2018 covering 12,528 card holders.
