The ‘shobha yatra’ (procession) of Kudroli Gokarnanatha temple here on Friday, to culminate the 10-day Mangaluru Dasara, will be restricted to 12 hours.

The yatra will start from the temple at 4 p.m. and end at 4 a.m. on October 20, said Padmaraj R., treasurer of the temple management committee, here on Wednesday.

Mr. Padmaraj told presspersons that over 70 tableux will take part in the yatra wherein idols of Sharada and Navadurga will be taken out in a procession on the main roads. Nearly 100 folk artiste groups from different parts of the State will take part.

He said that only one generator vehicle along with each tableau will be allowed from this year and no other vehicle will be allowed to accompany. The temple has assigned two coordinators for each tableau whose responsibility is to ensure that it keeps moving. “We have collected Aadhaar copies of these coordinators and have issued them unique shawls. They will be held responsible if there is any untoward incident,” he said. There will be an assistant sub-inspector and four constables for each tableau, he said.

Biruver Kudla organisation will hold six tabaleux. Dinesh Rayi, spokesperson of Biruver Kudla, told reporters that the organisation will have a tiger dance show between 2.30 p.m. and 5.30 p.m. at Ballalbagh Junction on October 19 and they hope to collect ₹15 lakh, which will be donated to poor patients.

Sprinter M.R. Poovamma, weightlifter P. Gururaja and a few other sportspersons will be felicitated at a function to be held at the temple on Thursday at 6 p.m. Congress leader B. Janardhana Poojary will also be felicitated, Mr. Padmaraj said.
