Science topper interested in fine arts

Ankitha P. from Govindadasa Pre University College, Surathkal, shared the second rank in Science with scoring 595 marks (99.16%) out of 600 marks.

She scored 100 marks each in Physics, Chemistry and Statistics and secured 99 marks each in Mathematics and Sanskrit. She secured 97 marks in English.

“I am sad over missing a mark each in Mathematics and Sanskrit,” she told reporters in Surathkal while stating that Mathematics was her favourite subject. The student said she devoted more time on preparation for competitive examinations as she wanted to pursue career in engineering.

Apart from excelling in academics she is a singer and performed skits.

She said that she had to cut short the time spent on fine arts during the preparation for the examination. A lecturer of Ms. Ankitha told The Hindu that she actively participated in the cultural programmes in the college and also at the intercollegiate level.

“She is a multifaceted personality,” the lecturer said.

Ms. Ankitha is the elder of the two daughters of Prasad A, general manager in Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited, and homemaker Bharathi P.
