The Indian Navy, Coast Guard, Coastal Security Police, District Police, District Administration, Central Industrial Security Force, Customs and other departments would be jointly organising a mock exercise titled ‘Exercise Sagar Kavach – 2019’ in the three coastal districts including Udupi on November 6 and 7.

A press release issued by the district police here on Monday said that this exercise would be held from 6 a.m. on November 6 to the night of November 7.

Mock exercise

This mock exercise will be conducted in a number of urban areas, along the coastline, fisheries harbours, bus stand, railway station, commercial complexes, important temples, and restricted industrial areas.

During the exercise, fake terrorists would be placing fake explosives in areas frequented by people. Security teams would try to locate these explosives.

‘Do not panic’

They urged people to not panic during the exercise. Instead, if people found these ‘suspicious persons’ or fake explosives, they should inform the District Police Control Room, phone number: 0820-2526444, the release said.
