A team of revenue officials, led by Bantwal Tahsildar Purandhara Hegde, and the Bantwal Town police on Wednesday raided the house of a Janata Dal(S) activist in Bantwal where an unauthorised Aadhaar updation and correction centre was being operated, the Bantwal police said.

The police said that on a tip-off the team raided the house of Haroon Rashid, general secretary of Janata Dal (Secular) district minority cell, where the Aadhaar Correction centre was being operated by Francis Prashant.

Mr. Prashant was assisted by Prakash in running the centre.

The police said they did not find any instance of creation of fake Aadhaar cards at the centre.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Kumar said the E-Governance Department had permitted Mr. Prashant to run the Aadhaar correction centre at a building of gram panchayat in Kadaba.

Mr. Prashant had violated norms by running the centre in Bantwal.

Mr. Kumar said the E-Governance Department will be asked to hold an inquiry against Mr. Prakash. A criminal case will be filed against Mr. Prashant on Thursday, he said.
