It said that so far that the Revenue Department was issuing hard copies of 25 certificates through the Atalji Janasheni Kendras and those certificates had holograms.

The applicant will have to mention this number when applying for benefits with government departments which should not insist on a hard copy.

Instead those government department authorities should verify the certificate number mentioned in the application by logging on towww.nadakacheri.

“The verified certificate number is a sufficient proof of valid certificate and the traditional paper certificate shall not be required,” a release issued by the Director of Atalji Janasnehi Directorate, Bengaluru said.

On the other hand SMS-based verification of certificates has also been introduced.

In this case, one has to send the SMS to 51969 by typing KA NK and certificate number.

In response the sender will receive the full details of certificate.

Under the old system, people had to run around various government departments adding additional cost to them and unnecessary paper work.

The new system will also help to avoid fake certificates, the release said.
