Having successfully launched the SuVidya portal — an application used by 201 PU colleges for admission and for the announcement of I PU results — the Dakshina Kannada Pre-University College Principals’ Association will launch an app that will connect PU students, their parents, college principals, lecturers, and Deputy Director of Pre-University Education.

The new SuVidya App will be launched by Ayanur Manjunath, MLC, during a function of the association to felicitate II PU examination toppers and retired PU college principals on June 10.

The function will be held at the auditorium of St. Aloysius Pre University College.

The new app helps parents get timely updates on their children and of college activities.

They can receive information about attendance, performance in the examinations, and receive other communication from the college.

The app helps parents fix appointment with lecturers and college principals.

For lecturers, the app helps to digitally record attendance and immediately send alerts to parents if any student is absent. It also helps lecturers to organise their classes, send assignments and assessments and also share information with students. It also helps lecturers classify students on their behaviour and focus on those who need attention.

Association secretary A. Vittala said the Deputy Director of Pre University Education can use the app to send out common instructions, examination schedule, and announce holidays. The official can also use this app for instructions and communications related to particular PU colleges and lecturers, he said.

President of Association, K.K. Upadhyaya, said the app was being offered to colleges at ₹5 per student per year. “It’s difficult for individual PU colleges to develop the app. The association is offering the app at an affordable cost,” he said.

In February 2018, the association launched the SuVidya portal that helped I PU students see their results online. This portal that helped in maintaining record of admissions to PU courses was adopted by all colleges in the district. The link provided in the portal helped the colleges to successfully transfer information about students to the students’ achievement tracking system of the PU Department.
