The Mangalore University has brought amendment to regulations to allow students to write supplementary for even semester while writing the examination for the odd semester and vice versa.

A student, who may have failed to clear subjects in the sixth semester, can write make-over examination within three months of announcement of result.

This was among the decisions taken during the Academic Council meeting held at the Mangalore University on Thursday.

Vice Chancellor K. Byrappa said such an amendment will be beneficial for students, more so for those in sixth semester. “It will save them of several months wait.”

Principal of Vivekananda College Puttur, Madhava Bhat said that such an amendment will be violation of human right with the student writing two examinations in a day. To this, Mr. Byrappa said that the timetable will be framed in such a way that no student will be writing two papers in a day.

To another question by Academic Council member Amruth Shenoy, Mr. Byarappa said steps are being taken to expedite the process of re-evaluation. “We have fast tracked it. Re-evaluation is now being done in 20 days.” Registrar (Evaluation) B. Narayana said results of revaluation were being released within 15 days from the date candidate applies, he said.
