B.K. Hariprasad and Nalin Kumar Kateel, MPs, have promised release of funds under their MP Local Areas Development Scheme for the construction of a Billava Hostel coming up near Kunjathbail. The hostel is being constructed by the Akhila Bharata Billavara Union.

Laying foundation stone for the hostel, Mr. Hariprasad announced on Sunday that he would release Rs. 50 lakh from MPLAD funds for the hostel.

At a function held at the Narayana Guru College in Kudroli, Mr. Kateel said he would release Rs. 20 lakh for the construction. He would also ask some corporate firms to release funds under their corporate social responsibility scheme. Mr. Kateel indirectly commented on the way Congress leader B. Janardhana Poojary was conducting events at Kudroli Gokarnanatheswara Temple. Mr. Kateel said some persons were trying to get mileage using the name of Sri Naranaya Guru and by conducting events at the temple in a grand manner, which Guru was opposed to.
