Three police constables, including two women, from the Puttur Rural police station were placed under suspension for allegedly misbehaving with a 13-year-old girl and her parents.

Following a complaint by the girl’s neighbour accusing her of stealing a gold chain, the Puttur Rural police brought the girl and her parents to the police station on Friday.

The two women constables took the girl into a room for questioning.

The girl has accused the two constables of physical assault and forcing her to admit the crime.

The male constable was accused of speaking rudely to the girl’s parents at the police station.

Following a preliminary enquiry, Superintendent of Police B.M. Laxmi Prasad on Saturday placed the three constables under suspension pending departmental enquiry.
