KRCL detects illegal ticket sale, slaps fine

Konkan Railway Corporation’s Railway Protection Force personnel recently cracked illegal sales of train tickets in Karwar wherein the accused was asked to pay a fine of ₹5,000.

A communiqué from KRCL here said that the personnel, led by Inspector and Sub Inspector, on the directions of the Assistant Security Commissioner, raided a shop, One Fast Travels, in Karwar on October 28. The team seized 20 post-dated travel tickets worth ₹10,675.80 from shop owner Abdulnazir Ibrahim Shaikh. On inquiry, it was found that the accused was not authorised to sell train tickets. He was produced before the JMFC Court with seized equipment, including computer, printer and dongle, later.

Besides levying the fine, KRCL also blocked the seized post-dated 20 tickets. The communiqué said that KRCL’s RPF has been keeping a close watch on illegal sale of tickets. It will initiate a major drive against unauthorised travel agencies under its jurisdiction.
