Kollur Mookambika Temple gets FSSAI certificate for its food

The Kollur Mookambika Temple, which draws a huge footfall in the State, has obtained the certificate from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) for the food being offered to the goddess and served to the devotees. The certificate is valid till April 6, 2024.

The certificate said that the temple is certified under Blissful Hygienic Offering to God (BHOG) as per benchmarks established by the FSSAI.

The temple offers free food to the devotees. The certificate has been issued after conducting the audit of the building where the food is prepared, the facilities in the building, the method of preparing food, hygiene and cleanliness factors and the training offered to those cooks who prepare the food.

An official release said on Sunday that the building where the food is prepared is free from rainwater leakage. It has rust-free doors and windows, the floor is not slippery and the quality of walls is up to the standards.

The temple used quality vessels used to cook the food. The building has good ventilation and lighting. The storage room is up to the mark. The waste water and other waste in the process of preparing the food is being disposed off methodically.

It said that the temple purchased the groceries from FSSAI certified manufacturers. The temple had proper cold storage facility.

The temple has maintained the quality of vessels used in serving the food. The cleanliness of the place where the food is served has been maintained by sanitising. Precautionary measures are being taken daily to keep away pests, insects, flies and worms at the place of cooking and serving the food.

The release said that the left over food is being disposed off properly without reusing the same. The oil once used for cooking is not being reused. The cooks and helpers have been trained in maintaining hygiene and cleanliness.
