Around 6,000 students expected to attend

The helpline centre of the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) for document verification and online seat allotment for undergraduate engineering, medical and other professional courses for 2015-16 will start functioning at the Karnataka Polytechnic premises here from Friday.

Talking to reporters here on Thursday, Chief Nodal Officer of the Helpline Centre and Principal of Government PU College Vamanapadavu Jagajeevan Das Bhandary said that nine counters will be opened at the centre.

The services of nine experienced lecturers and 11 data entry operators will be used during the two-week long document verification and seat allotment process.

Participation

Around 5,000 students took part in the process last year and this year, Mr. Bhandary said that they expected around 6,000 students.

“We will not accept many on the first day (Friday) as it is being done for the first 700 ranks. There will be more number on Saturday when the verification of nearly 3,300 students are scheduled,” he said.

Mr. Bhandary said that apart from students from Dakshina Kannada, those from Udupi, Uttara Kannada, Chikkamagaluru and Madikeri are likely to visit the help centre in Mangaluru, he said.

On the network issue faced last time, Mr. Bhandary that said some network and software professionals have been posted to address problems.

“But these professionals cannot do much if there is a problem in Bengaluru,” he said.

Document verification and online allotment process had been affected for several hours last year.
