The B.S. Yediyurappa government will not last long and holding mid-term elections is the only way out to end the political impasse in the State, said Ivan D’Souza, MLC, here on Saturday.
Speaking to presspersons, Mr. D’Souza said that despite not having numbers in the Legislative Assembly, Governor Vajubhai Vala had sworn in Mr. Yediyurappa as the new Chief Minister.
“This is just a stop-gap arrangement. Conducting (mid-term) elections is the only way out,” he said.
“Under the leadership of Siddaramaiah, the Congress, on its own, will win more seats in the elections and form a government,” he said and added that the decision to continue the alliance with the Janata Dal (Secular) for the impending mid-term election has to be taken by the party’s high command.
Alleging that the Governor has committed constitutional impropriety in swearing Mr. Yediyurappa as the Chief Minister, Mr. D’Souza claimed that the new government will be dismissed if the Governor’s decision is questioned in the Supreme Court.
