The State government on Wednesday posted Hephsiba Rani Korlapati, a 2011 cadre Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, as the Commissioner of Mangaluru City Corporation.
The civic body did not have a regular commissioner for the past six months. She would take charge on Thursday.
The 27-year-old Ms. Korlapati, from Andhra Pradesh, secured the 20th rank in the All India Civil Services Examination in 2010.
After serving as [Probationary] Commissioner of Mandya City Municipal Council in 2013, she became the Assistant Commissioner, Basavakalyan, Bidar. She was also Commissioner of Basavakalyan Development Board.
A post-graduate in Geography from Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi, she completed her graduation at the College for Women, Osmania University, Hyderabad in History, Geography and Public Administration.
Ms. Korlapati would be the second IAS officer to take charge as a regular commissioner of the corporation. Sameer Shukla, an IAS officer, was the corporation commissioner from August 8, 2008 to May 28, 2009.
