To prevent Muslims from becoming targets of vigilante groups, the State government should make proper arrangement for cattle transportation, said founder of Dakshina Kannada Muslim Development Committee Rafiuddin Kudroli here on Tuesday.

Mr. Kudroli told reporters that though persons from all communities were involved in cattle trafficking, vigilante groups were targeting only Muslims. In the name of stopping illegal cow transport, vigilante groups were assaulting transporters and also indulging in robbery and dacoity. The situation in Dakshina Kannada was slowly turning like in Uttar Pradesh where there have been many cases of harassment of cow and cattle transporters.

Accusing the State government of being silent on attacks on cow transporters, Mr. Kudroli alleged that groups were entering houses of innocent cattle traders late in the night and attacking their family members. Tough action should be taken against such groups, he said.
