Vishwesha Tirtha Swami of Pejawar Mutt said on Friday that the Union government should give a fitting reply to the terrorists who were behind the attack on the CRPF personnel at Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.

Addressing presspersons here, the Pejawar seer said that the government could even take up surgical strikes.

“But caution should be ensured so that both teaching a fitting lesson to terrorists or taking up surgical strikes does not lead to a war,” he said.

Meanwhile, speaking at condolence meeting organised by the district unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the War Memorial at Ajjarkad here, K. Raghupati Bhat, MLA, said here that the attack in Pulwama was highly condemnable.

The country under the strong leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi would give a befitting reply to the Pulwama attack, he said.

Mattar Ratnakar Hegde, president of the district unit of BJP, said that it was the responsibility of all citizens to mourn the death of soldiers.

Speaking at a meeting organised by the District Youth Congress, Pramod Madhwaraj, former Minister and Congress leader, said that the entire country should fight against the Pulwama terrorist attack together. AICC president Rahul Gandhi had already given full support to the Union government on tackling this matter. Failure of intelligence appeared to be the reason for the attack.

There should be a probe on how such a large quantity of explosives was smuggled into Kashmir. A fitting reply was essential for the attack, he said.

Speaking at a condolence meeting organized by the local units of Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), Mandarti Pramod Shetty, secretary of the local unit of VHP, said that people should not give any opportunity to the terrorists to weaken the country.

It was essential to instil confidence in the soldiers who were guarding the borders of the country, he added.
