Fundamentalist forces should be kept at bay: Minister

October 28, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 10:11 am IST - MANGALURU:

People should keep at bay fundamentalist forces that are trying to create differences among religions and are involving underworld elements in such acts, said district in-charge Minister B. Ramanath Rai on Tuesday. While saying that he will not attach much importance to the threat to his life that he has received reportedly by an underworld operative, Mr. Rai said it was unfortunate that these fundamentalist forces are getting linked with underworld operatives. “We have to change our attitude and sideline groups that are trying to create enmity among communities,” he told reporters here.

Explicitly stating that he was against the politics of hatred, Mr. Rai said he and the other two Ministers from district keep themselves away from incidents that have communal colour. Mr. Rai said he has been against groups involved in attacking couples from two different faiths. “I keep at bay organisations that support such attacks,” he said.
