Vidyadheesha Tirtha Swami of Paryaya Palimar Mutt said on Friday that the Sri Krishna Mutt/ Temple and Paryaya Palimar Mutt would distribute free uniforms to over 10,000 students from 100 aided schools in Udupi district, here on Saturday.
Addressing presspersons here, the Palimar seer said that the mutt was already providing free rice to these schools under its ‘Chinnara Santharpane’ scheme.
The uniforms were being provided to the students of these schools. The cost of purchasing and then stitching them together had been estimated at ₹18 lakh.
U.T. Khader, Minister for Urban Development and Housing, will distribute the uniforms from 3.15 p.m. to 5.15 p.m. at Rajangana on Saturday. Kota Srinivas Poojary, Leader of the Opposition in Legislative Council, K. Raghupati Bhat, Lalaji Mendon, V. Sunil Kumar, Halady Srinivas Shetty, and B.M. Sukumar Shetty, MLAs, will be present at the function. Vishwavallabha Tirtha Swami of Sode Vadiraja Mutt and Ishapriya Tirtha, junior seer of Admar Mutt, will grace the occasion, he said.
Silver Jubilee
The silver jubilee of Hejje- Gejje Foundation will be held at Rajangana at 3 p.m. on Sunday. The stage function would be followed by dance programme ‘Nritya Vaibhava’ on the same evening.
Another dance programme, ‘Nrityanajali’ will be held at the same venue at 7 p.m. on Monday, the seer said.
