Flying squad seizes BJP pamphlets, cash

Election officials seized publicity materials related to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate, K. Raghupati Bhat, and ₹2 lakh in cash from a car at a check-post near the Krishi Vigyan Kendra at Brahmavar in Udupi district on Thursday.

According to the police, the team was checking vehicles at the check-post at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra near Brahmavar and found pamphlets worth about ₹15,000 publicising Mr. Raghupati Bhat and ₹2 lakh in the vehicle. A case of violation of the model code of conduct had been filed by officer Jayaram Acharya against Pratap Hegde Marali, BJP zilla panchayat member, who was in the car, and the car driver, Harish S., and also Mr. Raghupati Bhat, after getting permission from the court, at the Brahmavar police station under Section 171F, 171H of Indian Penal Code, and 123(1) and 127(A) of Representation of People Act, the police said.
